	Australian training for culinary and hospitality students of SDCA, Cavite   The St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) has established itself as a premier nursing school in the province of Cavite. It has grown dramatically in the last eight years and the enrollees keep increasing every school year. This is proof that colleges and universities in Metro Manila do not have the monopoly of quality education. MARKETING DIRECTOR OF KENT INSTITUTE – AUSTRALIA HOLDS FREE LEARNING SESSION ON DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS AND DIPLOMA OF MARKETING   Mr. Greg Radford of Kent Institute of Business and Technology – Australia held a free learning session about the Diploma of Business and Diploma of Marketing last April 23, 2010 at the Luigi’s Bar and Restaurant, GregDom Building, SDCA Campus. It was attended by students and professionals who were interested in taking up these one year programs. SDCA recognizes its employees during Fellowship Night St. Dominic College of Asia gave due recognition to its employees and faculty members during the Fellowship and Service Award Ceremony held last March 6, 2010 at the Doña Dominga Hall, GregDom Building, SDCA Campus. This is the time wherein all members of the institution come together for some light moments. There were special performances by the “Admin Girls” composed of administrative members and “Kuya Nelson”. Entrance examination is still on – going and it is for free! Free Learning Session on International Culinary Program St. Dominic College of Asia hosted a free learning session on its TAFE Commercial Cookery program last April 6, 2010 at the Al Fresco, SDCA campus. Mr. Phil Cox, Institute Director of TAFE – South Western Sydney Institute, was the guest speaker during the event while TAFE – Philippines Director of Studies and SDCA resident chef Justin David headed the cooking demonstration together with the other chefs June Peralta, Chester Dapo and Michelin Galang – Dapo. Mr. and Ms. SDCA 2010 Winners The recently concluded Mr.& Ms. SDCA 2010 crowned Ma. Hessa Saeki and Mikko Panganiban as the new Ambassadors of Goodwill. The coronation night was held last March 5, 2010 at the SDCA Grounds.16 candidates from the four schools vied for the titles, and Nursing and Hospitality Management students emerged as the night’s winners. SDCA’s Student’s Recognition Day Last March 5, 2010, the Registrar’s Office and Office of Student Life gave recognition to outstanding students who showed excellent performances in academics or co – curricular activities. AFP-EBSO & SDCA collaborates to provide college education Last March 9, 2010 the Armed Forces of the Philippines Educational Benefit System Office (AFP – EBSO) visited St. Dominic College of Asia. The delegation was headed by Lt. Colonel Julius A. Tomines PA, Assistant Chief and Assistant General Manager of the said office. For SDCA Alumni: CSI Professionals Inc. will be hosting a free US and Canadian Immigration Seminar at our very own campus. This will be on February 27, 2010. A job fair will also be held on the same day. SDCA’s TAFE program signs MOU with Foodparks St. Dominic College of Asia forged a deal to have current TAFE students do their on-the-job training in various Foodparks by Raintree Inc. restaurants. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was held at the Food Patio of PBCom Plaza, Ayala Avenue, Makati City last January 20, 2010. SDCA to represent Cavite in CHED Academic and Cultural Festival Regional Finals St. Dominic College of Asia Is the official representative of the province of Cavite in the Commissioner of Higher Education Academic and Cultural Festival Regional Finals to be held at De La Salle University – Lipa in Batangas on January 23, 2010. SDCA will be represented by Silver Bless Gonzales, Arnel and Benitez and Mario Agustin in the events. Ms. Johanna Carvajal and Mr. Gino Vinluan of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education (SASE) will serve as their coaches. SASE Dean Dr. Jaime Ang is chosen to be one of the judges in the said event. Ms. Evelyn Santos (Assistant Registar) and Mr. Roy Medalle (Office of Student Life Director) will also be part of the delegation. AHEIR holds Board Meeting at SDCA St. Dominic College of Asia hosted the board meeting of the Association of Higher Institution for Higher Education - CALABARZON area last December 22, 2009. Representatives from different tertiary institutions in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon were present during the meeting. "Pasko sa St. Dominic: Alay Kay Bro, Alay sa Bayan": A Success! St. Dominic College of Asia held its annual Christmas party last December 18, 2009 and many fun and enjoyable activities packed the entire day celebration. The day kicked off with a party for the children of the staff and faculty members. Games such as Bring Me, Stop Dance among others brought joy and laughter to the little ones. Office of Student Life Coordinator Geon Sta. Ana and Central Colleges Student Council President Jeff Torrento hosted the children's party. 2nd Place finish for HM student in the Tanduay Rhum Flairtending Competition Erwin Ceniza, a 4th Year Hospitality Management student, won 2nd place in the Tanduay Rhum - sponsored Flairtending Competition held last December 11, 2009 at PMMS. Likewise, 3rd Year HM student Lester Mascardo grabbed the special award as Best in Personality in the said competition. Congratulations! SBCS wins in the 3rd Cavite Entrepreneurial Students Summit St. Dominic College of Asia congratulates the School of Business and Computer Studies and its corresponding organizations Cavite Young Leaders for Entrepreneurship and Young Executive Society for winning 1st place in the Most Promising Product (Apparel Category) during the 3rd Cavite Entrepreneurial Students Summit held at Trece Martirez City, Cavite. Their creation was a bag made of rolled newspaper. SDCA reps attend PACSA summit in Baguio Baguio, the Summer Capital of the Philippines and the perfect venue to celebrate the 30th Annual Convention and Seminar Workshop for Campus Advisers and the 14th Annual National Convention and Seminar-Workshop for Student Leaders. The said convention was held at the Teacher’s Camp in a four day affair with the prominent speakers from different fields of their specialization, for instance Atty. Jordan Hospital Director visits SDCA Dr. Mohammad Igneibi, a director in one of the leading hospitals in Jordan, visited the college last November 28, 2009 to create affiliation with the School of Nursing and Allied Health as he intends to bring in and give job opportunities in Jordan to the Nursing graduates of the institution. SASE Dean Elected to the APCAS Board Dr. Jaime Gutierrez – Ang, Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education was elected to the National Board of Directors of the prestigious Association of Philippine Colleges of Arts and Sciences (APCAS) held last November 23 – 24, 2009 at the Lyceum of the Philippines University. 100% Passing Rate in the National Certification II Assessment for Caregivers Congratulations to the National Certification II Assessment for Caregivers passers! With the curriculum of the Caregiver program directed to making its students qualified and competitive to work locally and internationally, SDCA has established a respected reputation in assuring prospective and future employers of our program that our students are capable and competent in the field. WorkSmart – Australia Director visits SDCA Ms. Jill Van Der Kooi, Managing Director of WorldSmart Manpower Pty. Ltd., paid a visit to St. Dominic College of Asia last November 13, 2009. She is keen on providing SDCA linkages in Australia, specifically for the college’s Caregiver program. WorldSmart is a manpower agency based in Australia. Ms. Van Der Kooi went to the country to create affiliations with local colleges which will be able to provide graduates that can possibly work in the Land Down Under. Oplan 2 R’s at Digman Elementary School The Community Outreach Extension Services (COES) of St. Dominic College of Asia held a feeding program and goods distribution to the 488 students of Digman Elementary School in Brgy. Digman, Bacoor, Cavite last November 5, 2009 as part of the “Oplan 2 R’s: Relief and Rehabilitation Program." President leaves for Indonesia Dr. Marita Andaman - Rillo, President of St. Dominic College of Asia, together with Philippine Medical Association's Vice President and St. Dominic Medical Center's Hospital Director, Dr. Oscar Tinio, will be leaving for Indonesia on November 3, 2009 to attend the Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania (CMAAO). back to home | back to top
