SIHTM holds Junior Professional Summit

With the theme “Risk and Crisis Management in the Hospitality & Tourism industry,” School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management held their 8th Junior Professional Summit at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, Oct. 3.


There were a series of talks from respectable speakers in their field. Dr. Marita Andaman-Rillo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, discussed about Psychology in the Workplace, and Ambassador Rosalinda Tirona, International Relations Officer, who served as the Plenary Speaker, talked about the Overview of the Risk and Management in the Industry of Hospitality and Tourism. As for the Presentation on the Risk and Crisis Management, Mr. Jojo Valenzuela of Canadian Tourism and Hospitality Institute discussed about Food Service Industry; Chef Jake Enriquez from Star Cruises talked about Cruiseline Industry; Mr. Mark Rañada of Sofitel Philippine Plaza tackled about Lodging Industry; Ms. Maria Loribel Marco from Philippine airlines go through the Tourism and Airline Industry. Afterwards, Dr. Elsa Chico, the Program Chair of Tourism Management Program, Presented the Plaque of Appreciation to all speakers. Then, Prof. Jennifer Yap, Officer in Charge Dean of SIHM delivered her Appreciation message.

The final part of the program was the year level presentation where nine contestants competed for the recognition. The presentations of the groups where nine contestants competed for the recognition. The presentations of the groups were based on Hollywood movies. KSHM1 A’s Titanic was declared the first place followed by United 93 BSTM2A and San Andreas respectively. The program concluded with the awarding of winners and followed by a fellowship.
