CLOSING REMARKS – ALUMNI HOMECOMING
MARCH 6, 2010

Good evening my fellow Dominicans.
A very important event brought us here today, which is the holding of our very first alumni homecoming. This Foundation week has witnessed a lot of firsts. (The events celebrated are the Kulayawan Festival, Poetry Concert and Mr. and Ms. St. Dominic College of Asia 2010.)
You are very lucky because you are the pioneers of this celebration and I’m pretty much sure soon we will be celebrating our Centennial and our grandsons and granddaughters are the ones celebrating it, remembering us. We, I say, are setting up a tradition that others will follow. I could not help but reminisce our early days there at the rooms on the 4th floor of St. Dominic Medical Center. We started with two sections for Nursing and look where we are now, we have multiplied these a hundred fold.
For all of you this is the time to be together again with your former classmates and friends and recall fond memories while you were here.
Your school or your alma mater has gone a long way from St. Dominic College of Arts and Sciences; it’s now St. Dominic College of Asia. In terms of population, our first graduates were only about 66, which means roughly at any given time, we were only about a hundred people roaming around the campus, now our current population is about 1,500.
Now, we are simple non-sectarian school but with your help we will become a bastion of academic excellence in this part of the globe.

I thank you for all those fruitful years that you have spent with us. Let today’s experience be remembered for the rest of your life. Kindly tell your classmates that are not around that your school is transformed for the better and will continue to exert efforts to further enhance the services that we render.
I enjoin you to do stay and watch the performances of our current batch of students and the untiring band of Dr. Mariano. The “Parokyano” Band.
By the way before I forget, yesterday I was appointed by CSI Professionals Inc. as the person in charge to coordinate all procedures on J1 visa applicants for the United States. If all of you are interested in applying for a visa for the States and Canada, please don’t hesitate to visit my office or log on to our website www.stdominiccollege.edu.ph. Kindly prepare your resume and your profile for preliminary assessment by our partners.
Thank you very much for your presence.
