Bacoor Community Life

St. Dominic College of Asia, in cooperation with the Bacoor Historical Society, recently published the book “Bacoor Community Life”.

Spearheaded by SDCA President Gregorio A. Andaman, Dr. Carolina P. Danao, and other members of the Bacoor Historical Society, the book talks at length about the olden times and culture of Bacoor City.

The book comprises of five modules in total: Proudly from Bacoor, The Environment of Our Community, Culture Assets of Bacoor, Highlights of Bacoor History, and, lastly, My Role in the Development and Progress of Bacoor.

The first module highlights the city as the “Gateway” of Cavite due to its strategic location and also celebrates successful Bacooreños such as Ernesto “Ernie” Baron, Diether Ocampo, the Revillas, and Wesley So.

The second module showcases the physical attributes of the city from its land, down to its establishments and transportation systems. Even SDCA was featured in the book as part of the schools in the Bacoor area.

The third module tells of the culture of Bacoor, including the traditions, beliefs, religions, and the city’s festivities.Did you know that Bacoor City has yet gained another title aside from “Cavite’s Gateway to the Metropolis”? Recently, the Pambansang Samahan ng mga Marching Bands, Inc. and the Philippine Alliance of Marching Show Bands, Inc. signed a joint resolution stating that Bacoor City, with the highest number of marching bands, is now the “Marching Band Capital of the Philippines.”

The fourth module recalls the significant history of Bacoor such as the execution of Fr. Mariano Gomez (from the known three beheaded priests “Gomburza”),the role of Pintong Bato in KKK, the Battle of Manila Bay, and the seat of Aguinaldo’s revolutionary government, the First Malacañang.

Lastly, the fifth module calls for the citizens of Bacoor to do their part, since a government without the support of its people will never reach its vision.
